What is CMMC?
Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification
The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC 2.0) is the Department of Defense's framework to protect Federal Contract Information (FCI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) across the Defense Industrial Base (DIB).
CMMC went into mandatory enforcement on November 10, 2025, as Phase 1 of a four-phase rollout. All DoD contractors — including suppliers of fasteners, aircraft parts, and logistics support — must achieve and maintain their required CMMC level as a condition of contract award.
